The Story:
In 1998, I had a plan, and that plan was to get an old Volkswagen Beetle and spend the next 2 years restoring it so I could use it as my first car once I turned 16. I found this one in a yard near my friend's house and talked to the owner, who simply handed me the keys and told me to get it out of her yard. Once bringing it home and beginning to pull it apart, we found that the car was entirely too rusted and far gone to fix, so all parts of value were taken out of it and kept, and the rest was cut apart and scrapped. Many of the car's parts still grace my parents' garage, and the engine is being rebuilt with a slight bore for use in another air-cooled Volkswagen. Looking back on it now, this Bug would have been a doable restoration, but at the time, I didn't know enough and my father said it wouldn't be worth it. Plans were to turn it into a dunebuggy, but those plans never substantiated.
